The summer heat is right around the corner and spring is the perfect time for going outdoors to create your very own organic garden. At Tenaza Organics, our organic farming specialists know a thing or two about growing herbs and vegetables, which is why we’ve dug up a few tips to help your garden grow this spring.
Work Hard Now, Enjoy a Bountiful Harvest Later
Growing your own organic veggies certainly has its challenges, but you and your family will enjoy the rewards come harvest time. The following tips will help to ensure growing success for your organic garden:
- Spray the foliage of your organic veggies on a weekly or biweekly basis early in the morning with your choice of diluted applications of seaweed extract, compost tea or fish emulsion.
- Mulch your garden and mulch it well. Doing so will help preserve moisture and keep those pesky weeds at bay. If any weeds happen to pop up, get rid of them right away or they will deprive your plants of essential water and nutrients.
- Choosing organic veggies that grow well in our environment is key. Some seeds to consider planting this season include: peppers, corn, tomatoes, carrots, beets, onions, cucumber, cantaloupe, watermelon and summer squash.
Your future organic veggies need food and nourishment just like you, so don’t forget to feed and water regularly to ensure stronger plants for healthier produce.
